After a solid week of rain last week, we woke up Saturday to a beautiful sunny day! We went on a catamaran sail with some students from school. Lots of sun, snorkeling, and dolphins!
At our school, Wed. night is cooking night and Friday nights are BBQ night (bring food and get free drinks). Adrian, one of our teachers is also the chef on cooking night as well as the grillmaster on BBQ night. Good times-Good food.
Campaign Day in Bocas
Okay-so I'm finally figuring out this blog thing. I think the next post will be much easier. Things are not exactly in the order I want them, but you get the point.
Now for an update—So we are in our 3rd week of Spanish classes now! It is going fast and there is a lot to learn! Esta lloviendo todos los dias! Por lo tanto, estudiamos todo el tiempo! Even though it has rained a ton, we are still enjoying ourselves. We are definitely getting the most that we can out of the class and studying so Esta bien, besides the fact that everyone here speaks English so you don’t really get much practice conversing with the locals. They want to learn English. So a little about Bocas—it rains a lot and it is not the rainy season, you have to take a water taxi, a bus, or hike through mud up to your knees to get to a beach. The best beach is the 30 minute hike through the mud. With all the rain, we haven’t been very motivated to go. There is a Smithsonian Tropical Research Station here that we have visited. Plants, birds, underwater petting zoo (starfish, etc), frogs…the tour was halfway in Spanish because we went with the school so we probably missed some of the information…but worth the trip. This past Saturday was the first sunny day without rain in a week so we took the chance to do a catamaran sail with some people from school. They took us to a couple different reefs to snorkel and we go to see the dolphins. It has been sunny this week and today we are going kayaking. This is our last week in Bocas. Sunday, March 15th, we are leaving for Boquete. It is a small mountain town in the Chiriqui Province about 6-7 hours from Bocas. Another branch of our school is there so we will stay for a week with a host family. Hopefully this will help to improve our espanol! We will try to update again soon. Take care--
