Today we took the Buquebus Ferry to Uruguay. They have a fast and a slow ferry that goes from Buenos Aires to Colonia, Uruguay most days of the week. We opted to take the slow ferry but didn't get to the station in time so we had to take the fast ferry. We didn't realize that it was pretty similar to checking in at an airport and you can't just expect to show up a few minutes early and get on. The ferry only took 1 hour. Colonia has a small historic section that juts into the Rio de la Plata and also a modern section of the town that extends around a bay. We stayed near the historic area which has the cobblestone streets that are lined with plane trees (sycamore). The town is full of museums; Spanish and Portuguese Colonial Periods, indigenous archaeology, natural history, ext. We went to all 7 for only 50 cents each.
