I tried to talk to them. We more or less walked with them through the ruins and talked about their family and then paid them for giving us the tour! Our 5 weeks of classes have not included having a conversation in Spanish about pre-hispanic times.
Our 10 & 11 year old tour guides for the Ruins. They were too cute to say no to!
The town of Tilcara from the hillside of the pre-hispanic ruins.
A church in a little town of Calete between Tilcara and Humahuaca. We saw it from the road and drove through to take a look. The beauty of not being on a bus!

The streets of Purmamarca.

Purmamarca is the town we spent the first night of this trip at. It is most visited for its spectacular mountain of 7 colors, from terra cotta to green. It is quite a trendy little town with fancy restaurants and shopping, even among all the dirt roads. The best view of the mountain is in the morning, so we did a short little hike to see the amazing view and headed north to Tilcara. From Tilcara we drove a short distance to the town of Humahuaca, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn. We returned to Tilcara for that evening.
Gorgeous scenery!
