The Grand Canyon
A cloudy sunset
Aaron, the Grand Canyon, and the clouds!
Slide Rock-a swimming and camping spot
Talieson West. The school is actually still a functioning school with about 20 students annually. It was hard to capture this amazing place with a camera and many areas you were not able to photograph at all.
Aug 18 - Aug 22
Here we are, back in the USA. Our first stop was Chandler, AZ to take over August's house for a few days. Thanks August! I'll have to say, it was nice to feel a little like being at home (in a real bed) with home cooked meals (August's signature Greek salad being a favorite) for a couple days. We hung out, checked out the Pheonix area, and got a tune up for the car, which was necessary after 6000+ miles in a month and a half. We also visited Talieson West, Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and architecture school. Finally, we gave August his house back and headed toward Flagstaff. On the way we stopped in a few recommended towns; Prescott for lunch, Jerome-for the scenery, and spent the first night camping out near Slide Rock. The next day we rolled into Flagstaff for breakfast and checking out the town, then made it to the Grand Canyon for sunset pictures. Unfortunately it was cloudy and raining by the time we got there and our first glimpse at the canyon was totally white with clouds! As we continued along the southern rim, the clouds lifted and we were able to see the amazing canyon. The weather, however, definitely warrants a return trip for sure!
