Chinle and Canyon de Chelly

A view of the canyon

The White House Ruins down in the Canyon (because of the white house at the top that doesn't really look white in this picture)

Aug 23 - Aug 25

After visiting the Petrified Forest we continued on to spend a couple nights in Chinle, the largest town in the Navajo Nation. Aaron's mom worked here for about a year when she was working as a traveling nurse. It has been on our list of things to do with her so she could show us around the reservation and the near-by Canyon de Chelly (pronounced shay) and the timing finally worked out. They offer jeep tours through the bottom of the canyon, or take your own vehicle with a guide (if you think it can handle the sand). August volunteered to take his H3 for the tour-a highlight of the Arizona trip for all of us!
